Entertain Your Backyard Squirrels

Posted on November 27, 2008

There are two good reasons to get one of these interesting squirrel feeders. First, you can use it as a diversion to keep the squirrels away from your bird feeders. Second, it is hilarious to watch the antics of the squirrels as they go after the corn.

Squirrels love corn and they are also pretty good at raiding bird feeders. No matter how well you try to protect your bird feeders, the crafty squirrels will find a way to defeat your efforts. That is where a squirrel feeder used as a diversion works well. Give the squirrels what they want and most of them will leave your bird feeders alone. This will help to keep the little bandits away from your bird feeders where they tend to shovel out all of the smaller seeds in pursuit of the larger seeds and pieces of corn.

It is particularly entertaining when several squirrels are working on the corn, because as one grabs for the corn on the top, the squirrel on the bottom is spun around.

The best combination is to use a squirrel proof bird feeder in one section of your yard and the Squirrel Spinner feeder io another. That way, you discourge squirrels from

You can buy ears of corn in your grocery store, or you can buy bags of corn-on-the-cob at a local wild bird food store. You can also find bags at feed and grain stores and some hardware stores. It is much cheaper to buy the dried corn in bulk bags and it keeps the squirrels–and your family–entertained longer.
