iRobot Roomba 530 Vacuuming Robot

Posted on January 8, 2009

Nothing beats the convenience of an automatic vacuuming robot when it comes to keeping your floors clean and dust-free. The Roomba 530 from iRobot tackles the task effortlessly with a powerful vacuum and two counter-rotating brushes that remove dust, dirt, pet hair, and other debris from your floors and carpets.

The Roomba 530 features improved wireless navigation that allows the unit to clean your floors, including under and around furniture, an average of four times during a cleaning cycle. It has self adjusting cleaning heads that detect and adjusts itself when the Roomba moves from hard floors to carpet.

The Roomba 530 doesn’t just move aimlessly around a room. The Roomba has built-in sensors that detect objects, such as table legs and chairs. The unit slowly approaches obstacles such as furniture and walls, gently touches them, then changes direction to clean along walls and around obstacles.

This model has a stronger vacuum that previous models, plus a longer battery life that allows it to clean up to 3 rooms on a single charge. It also comes with two Virtual Walls sensors that allow you to restrict areas where you do not want the Roomba unit to enter. Just place a Virtual Wall unit next to a doorway or other area and point the infrared beam across the entrance to block Roomba’s access.

Using the Roomba is easy. Just press the button labeled “Clean” on the top of the unit. Roomba will calculate the size of the room and detect any obstacles, then will begin the cleaning cycle. It even returns to its Home Base to dock and recharge when its job is done.

The Roomba 530 is pretty impressive and a very efficient robotic vacuum. You can see it at Amazon.
