2008 Consumer Electronics Show Gadget Lineup
One of the most talked about products at the show was Panasonic’s 150 inch plasma television. This is claimed to be the largest plasma television in the world.

How would you like this for your home theater? Well, according to a Panasonic rep I talked to, you can’t have it. They intend to use it for electronic billboards and custom applications. I think that basically means that it is currently so expensive to produce that only Steven Spielberg can afford one. I also asked about the power consumption. My concern is related to the high power consumption typical to plasma displays. I asked, “Does this unit consume more or less power that my air conditioner?” I was told that the system uses a new technology that reduces the power consumption. OK. Either the rep did not know or they are trained to not talk about that issue. Fair enough.
