3D movie technology has been around for a long time, but has only become available for home use since the late 1980s. We have compiled a list of 3D movies that can be played on almost any television, although viewing is probably best on an HDTV.

The type of 3-D movies that are talking about here are anaglyph 3-D movies. This technology for creating a 3D illusion requires the use of glasses with differently colored lenses.

There is a newer 3D technology called Blu-ray 3D that requires an upgrade of your HDTV and Blu-ray player. This type of 3-D movie will not work in 3-D on standard HDTVs and Blu-ray players.

Movies using anaglyph technology do not always have the same pronounced 3D effects as the new technology, but you can display anaglyph 3D movies using your current television or HDTV along with a standard DVD or Blu-ray player. Most of these moves come with 3 or 4 sets of the properly colored anaglyph glasses, as well as a standard 2-D copy of the movie, just in case you do not like the 3-D effects.

Some of these movies, such as Journey to the Center of the earth 3D, were limited editions and are no longer available and have become collector items. Some are only available on standard DVD.
